Certain areas of the home are more difficult to keep organized than others. Here are some home organization tips for key parts of your house.

Home Organization: Closets

Closets often hide disorder behind closed doors. With a few storage solutions and periodic maintenance, you can keep your closet tidy and organized.

Install shelves on the walls of the closet, about a foot underneath the ceiling. Store things that aren’t used often up high so they will be out of the way. Formal footwear, hats, and expensive jewelry used for special occasions are best stored safely away on a top shelf.

Add hooks to the walls of the closets for holding neckties, scarves, purses, and belts. Hooks can be easily drilled into the wall or use adhesive hooks to hang up lighter items.

Kitchen Organization

Some devices that can help improve kitchen storage are overhead hanging pot racks and Lazy Susans.

Pots and pans are tough to store in cabinets, drawers, and pantries. They are all different sizes and shapes that don’t nest together in stacks. Most cookware has holes at the ends of the handle, so hanging them from hooks is a great way to store them out of the way. A hanging pot rack looks great over a kitchen island and pots and pans are easy to grab from overhead.

A Lazy Susan is a device made with a rotating tray or multiple levels of trays. They can be hidden inside of cabinets or pantries or placed on top of the countertop. Lazy Susans are ideal for organizing spices, oils, and condiments.

Garage Organization

Another place that easily becomes cluttered is the garage. Many homeowners use it as a catch-all for things that they don’t want to keep inside the home.

In some cases, the garage is too messy to park your cars. Keep it organized by installing sturdy racks along the walls and using clear plastic bins to keep smaller items contained and organized. Label the bins so you can quickly find anything you are looking for.
